Open Seat 2007:
23-29 April 2007
As a seeded, Soderling got maybe the toughest he could have get from the Barcelona draw.
He will start against the former Roland Garros champion Gaudio and is scheduled to meet Nadal in the last 16.
But as this tournament is just a preparation for the upcoming more important mandatory events, the classy opponents are preferable.
It turned out that the Gaudio match was almost a walkover. Soderling won in 43 minutes 6-1, 6-0, losing just seven points off-serve.
In the next round was up against his fellow Swede Thomas Johansson for a place in the last 16. The match was very evenly contested with one break for each player in the match. Unfortunately Robin lost both tie-breaks and for the second straight week missed the opportunity to play against Nadal.
