After two dismal tournaments, Robin lead the Swedish team in an attempt to find the lost confidence. Belarus however have had lost only once in 11 home ties in the World Group.
He played in both singles matches and made the decisive third point to secure Sweden's place in the second round against Argentina.
In the opening match he won against the veteran Vladimir Voltchkov, without having any troubles. Then Thomas Johansson gave the Swedes a 2-0 lead, before the second day.
In the decisive singles, at 2-1, Robin played the fourth match Soderling's epic four hour five-set victory gave his team the 3-1 lead and the place in the next round. He came twice from a set down and saved two match points in the fourth set, while serving at 5-6.
"I think it was the turning point in the match," said Robin, "I was able to regain my confidence after that and played very well for the rest of the match. It was a great win for me."
Robin made three breaks to the big-serving Mirnyi, while being broken only once. The victory also showed how well Robin can cope with difficult situations, when coach sits next to him at the changeovers.
